Each and every designation has a unique configuration that is controlled by a designation item smart from. Below is an example of a designation item smart form for gift to Education. Please see the descriptions of each field that follow the image to understand what each field controls and how you can control the configuration of a designation using them.

Create a Designation

To create a new designation:
  1. In the Ektron Workarea, navigate to the appropriate folder in Content/Folders/Corporate/Web Communications/Special Projects/Giving Forms/.
  2. Click on the New button in the Ektron toolbar; select Smart Form > (giving)DesignationItem to create a new designation item smart form.
  3. Complete the following fields according to the instructions below:

  • Title: this field controls how the title appears on drop-down designation selection menus. NOTE: this field overrides the title specified in the taxonomy, so, while the taxonomy title is not important, for organization purposes, it is good to have the two values match, so please have the taxonomy title follow the title specified in this field.
  • Appeal Code: enter the appeal code provided by DRM here.
  • Campaign Code: enter the campaign code provided by DRM here.
  • Designation Code: enter the designation code provided by DRM here.
  • Intro: the rich-text in this field describes the designation and appears directly below the banner image (next item).
  • Banner Image: this image provides a branding tie-in opportunity for the designation. The image in this field appears directly below the designation selection drop-down menus. This image should be 494px wide (and as a guideline 110px high, though that dimension is not fixed, other dimensions are possible but will create an inconsistent look and feel).
  • Premium Content Selector: if a premium is offered for the campaign/designation, select the premium item content block here (see Corporate Giving Form - Create a Premium for more information).
  • Gift Amounts Repeatable Field: this repeatable field lets you specify from zero to four suggested gift amounts. It is important to include the "$" alongside the amount entered in this field. This value should be numeric with the exception of the "$". (Editor's note: I'm not sure if decimal amounts will work or not. This was not discussed during development.)
  • Display "Other" as an option: use this option to control whether the user will be offered an "other" field where they may enter a custom gift amount.
  • Display Recurring Gifting Options: this options controls whether the form will accept only one-time gifts or allow the user to setup recurring giving. NOTE: recurring giving options for the Corporate Giving Form are not currently developed, so this option does not do anything.
  • Display option for "up to _ Months" Option: if recurring gifting options are enabled, this option allows the user to specify a maximum number of gifts rather than an indefinite ongoing commitment. NOTE: recurring giving options for the Corporate Giving Form are not currently developed, so this option does not do anything.
  • Display Company Match Option: (Editor's note: is this item deprecated?)
  • Display Tribute Fields: this option enables the "I would like to give this gift in honor..." option and accompanying fields for the designation.
  • Email Information: the following fields control the e-mail confirmation sent out to the user upon submission of their gift:
    • Email to: this field controls what e-mail addresses in addition to the user's e-mail address (as provided on the form) receive confirmation of the users' gift by e-mail. This might be useful in a workflow where a DRM agent or CRM system can make use of notification of the gift. NOTE: originally there was a token to be entered in this field alongside any other e-mail addresses for the user's e-mail but that is now assumed. For most configurations this will probably be left blank.
    • Email From Address: this field controls the e-mail address that the confirmation e-mail is sent from. In most configurations this should be noreply@moodycommunications.org.
    • Email From Name: this field controls the name of the sender on the e-mail.
    • Subject line of email: this field controls the subject line of the e-mail.
    • Email Confirmation: this rich-text field controls the confirmation e-mail content .
    • Email Confirmation Content: this content selector overrides the Email Confirmation field with the content from the content block specified in the content selector.
  • Postback Information: the following fields control the confirmation page (postback) displayed to the user upon submission of their gift:
    • Postback Confirmation/Receipt:
    • Postback Confirmation Content:
  • Gift Detail's Language Display:

Add Designation to a Giving Form

NOTE: every designation does not require a giving form, but every giving form requires a designation (or taxonomy). Every designation does need to be assigned to either a giving form or taxonomy used on a giving from to be accessible.

If this designation will be used individually via its own giving form, please follow the instructions for creating a giving form for a single designation on the Corporate Giving Form - Create a Giving Form page.

If this designation will be added to a new or existing giving form with multiple selections, please follow the instructions for adding designations to a taxonomy on the Corporate Giving Form - Create a Giving Form page.
